A Quant Digging for Intuition Behind the Formulas

My name is Leslie Ren. I work in quantitative finance and started this site to write about pricing models, risk frameworks, and the gap between how I learned them and how they behave in practice.

When I read textbooks and academic papers, I sometimes find it hard to see the intuition behind the formulas. At the same time, shorter articles often skip the technical details I want to see. This site is my effort to bridge that gap.

Writing is how I learn. I keep the mathematical framework intact because rigour is what makes a concept feel complete to me. But working with models in practice taught me that the formula is never the whole story. The ideas behind it are what carry over to real problem solving. These notes are my attempt to find both.

What I Write About

Quantitative Finance Concepts
The math behind models: stochastic processes, derivatives pricing, and risk modelling. Most articles start from why the idea matters, then build the intuition from concrete examples.

Practical Industry Insights
General lessons and principles from working with quant systems in practice: the model choices, the edge cases, and the things you only notice when theory meets reality.

Articles are written with AI-assisted drafting and editing where helpful. All analysis, interpretations, and conclusions are my own.
